Before jumping into all kinds of ideas, ask yourself…

• What are you willing to give up to reach your goal?
• What will you do to become a better person, the person you want to be?
• What’s stopping you?

It helps if you write down what you will do to achieve your goal – it makes it easier to change old habits into new ones.

Thinking Long Term

One thing to be careful of is having the mindset: “quick fix”. How many times have you tried those crash diets; “soup diet”, “low carb diet”, “protein diet”. How many times did they actually work? You may have lost a few pounds, but did you gain it back again, and then some? This year, think long term. Instead of trying to make a huge change immediately, try making small, manageable changes at first, then build up from there. If its exercise you want to improve, try taking a walk a few times a week at first, then gradually build up to 20 minutes a day. If you want to eat better, try reducing the amount of junk food you eat first, then work up to cutting it right out of your diet by choosing to snack on vegetables instead.

The point to keep in mind is: it’s not how much change you make, it’s making a change that matters. Just do it!
