Barb Keck has lived in southern Ontario most of her
life, except when her family moved to the woods in the near north. True,
her father was a pioneer in nature and extremely adventurous. During
two important teenage years of Barb’s life her father moved the
family from the suburban city to the country, into a remote house with
no electricity and three miles from the closest farm. Her mother worked
hard to fill his dreams, although somewhat reluctantly went along with
this idea. What a trooper!
Barb grew up in a strict household, survived near death
in her married life, lived with an alcoholic and naively started a business
while raising young children. With no formal training or background
Barb’s strong need to be creative, desire to promote others and
work for her self compelled her to pursue graphic design. She found
a way to live on a poverty income with her two daughters and raise them
to be independent young woman pursuing careers. Through these experiences
and many others Barb learned what it means to live life.
For years Barb has inspired others to do and be what
they strive and live life as pain free as possible. Her long road of
“recovery” became the “discovery of life”. Through
reinventing her life to create a new one her writings today help others
to be resourceful and face life’s challenges finding new ways
to be.
Barb still lives in southern Ontario enjoying
creativity through cooking, dancing and photography as her new passions
in life.
