For most of her working life Irene worked in the northwest of London, England, specializing in counseling couples who were experiencing problems in their relationships. She says that, more often than not, it was the women that she spoke to and that sex and money worries were the two main causes of the problems.

Over the years, she conducted thousands of interviews with women of all ages and backgrounds and discovered some alarming facts: many of them lacked more than the most basic knowledge about their bodies; they believed that sex was something that only men enjoyed (some thought that it was actually sinful to enjoy it) and many had never experienced an orgasm.

When asked why she wrote 'My Female Orgasm' Irene simply said, 'Because it's desperately needed. I want every woman in the world to read it ... and then show it to their partners too!'

Irene is married with four children who are all now in their twenties. She has always had a passion for walking and photography and, when she retired, she decided to move away from the London area and bought a house in the beautiful countryside of South Devon. She's a recent convert to digital photography and is currently enjoying the challenge of a new learning curve; how to use a computer to produce her own finished photographs.
