How to Have a Happy Morning
How to Have a Happy Morning
By: by Janice Hampton

How happy are you when your day begins? Imagine a typical morning at your house. Pretend you are still in bed. What thoughts run through your mind as you start your day?

Do you immediately feel distressed when you think about your long "To Do" list and packed schedule? Or do you spend a few minutes creating an optimistic outlook to set the tone for the next sixteen hours?

One secret happy people know is finding a positive perspective within the first few minutes of waking increases the desire to look for humor and joy throughout the day. As a result, they are more likely to feel content and upbeat at the end of the evening.

Do you want to know how to feel happier when you hear your alarm? Create a positive and serene environment, and you will get a quick mental adjustment every morning.

Imagine starting your day smiling at photos of friends and family, breathing the aroma from a bouquet of fresh flowers, laughing at a funny quote hanging on your wall, or restoring your energy while enjoying a breath-taking view from your window. When you greet each day in pleasant surroundings, feeling uplifted is the natural outcome.

What do you see when you open your eyes in the morning? Sit on your bed and look around the room. Do you feel calm or nervous? Now walk into your bathroom and your kitchen. Think about the impact these rooms have on your early morning spirit and outlook for the day.

Is it time for a change of scenery? Imagine how good you will feel when you create a cheerful environment to greet your waking moments.

Start with your bedroom because this is where you leave the unconscious world of sleep and open your eyes to start your day. Make a list of everything you will eliminate from the room. Make another list of items you will add. You may end up with several things to do on each one.

It is best to start with no more than three in each category so you will not feel overwhelmed. Then prioritize your short list from easy to difficult.

Do the quick things first. Create momentum. Give yourself three days to accomplish the initial step of the makeover. When you finish the first phase in your bedroom, move on to the bathroom and then to the kitchen. Then repeat the process.
Creating the look and feel you want could take several rounds of changes. Follow the process of listing no more than three things to add and three to remove. Then take action on each item. Move to the next room and repeat the steps.

When you try this you will be amazed by the results of these small changes. Your attitude will automatically brighten, and your happiness will increase dramatically when you start each day with a positive perspective.
