Save Money on Your Travels With a Timeshare

by: Franco Smeaux

Susan Heller once said, "When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money." No vacationer who has ever had to navigate the waters of temporary accommodation (like hotels and motels) would argue with this sage advice. However, with a vacation property you won't need to sacrifice comfort for money. Not only do timeshares allow owners to secure annual or biennial lodgings for a fraction of the cost of renting a hotel room, they also tend to secure larger and better-appointed suites (so you can bring as much of your wardrobe as you can conceivably carry). You might be wondering, "How are these vacation properties so cost-effective?" The cornerstone to timeshare's affordability lies in the shared ownership that distinguishes them from other accommodation options. Here's how it works: Resorts most often sell timeshare in one-week increments. (This differs in some countries so check with the specific resort policies. Japan, for example, generally offers timeshares in 14-day shares). You can purchase one or more weeks for usage every year or every other year. Other individuals will also purchase time there, and you'll all share the usage and cost, thereby significantly reducing the cost to each. Additionally, with a timeshare you will pay one rate annually or biennially (based on your usage) that you can confidently and comfortably budget for. Never again will you need to struggle to find appropriate and affordable accommodation; nor will you continually throw money away at temporary lodgings. In fact, once you own your timeshare property, you should only ever have to pay your maintenance fees and the occasional special assessment fee (to update your property) to secure a lifetime of vacations in your favorite destination. Finally, to save even more on your vacation property purchase, consider buying your timeshare resale. Resale timeshares are exactly the same property that you'd get from the resort, but, because you're buying them from a previous owner rather than directly from the resort, you can often save thousands. The internet is the best place to find resale timeshares for sale because the marketplace is a competitive one. IN fact, some 95% of timeshare resales occur online, thereby driving the cost to you, the consumer, even lower. Consider a timeshare for a lifetime of vacations on the cheap.
