The Gift of Spending Time with the Man in Your Life

How often do we stop to appreciate the men in our lives? Why do we find it difficult to have meaningful relationships with them? Take a step back and think about what he enjoys and appreciates. Pay close attention because it’s not always easy to see, especially since most of them are not as open as females to share what’s important to them.

Ask Him…

Try asking him,“what is more important to a man, to be admired or to be respected?” Think about it, men love to admire, so to be admired is close to their heart. They associate it with love. Next time you have an informal moment casually ask him. Does love mean to be respected or to be admired?

Enjoy a Movie with Him...

His favorite, one that appreciates the male role, yes war movies included. Men relate to movies of heroism and the fight for freedom. Sports and adventure movies are also favorites that men connect strongly with. Don’t forget to discuss the best part of the movie.

Recommended Movies:

Lonesome Dove – This 5 star rated Western portrays two former and colorful famous Texas Rangers leading a cattle drive from Texas to Montana. The trials an tribulations display a realistic picture of the real western world. Leading roles include Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Angelica Huston, Danny Glover, Diane Lane and Ricky Schroeder.

Braveheart - This epic heroic movie is based on the life of a brave and legendary Scottish man who led the fight for freedom from English Oppressors. Leading role played by Mel Gibson.

The Longest Yard – A football in prison, drama/comedy movie. Burt Reynolds the former pro quarterback is jailed for shaving points – an American disgrace. If you are an Adam Sandler fan, check out the comedy remake of The Longest Yard.

Band of Brothers - Drama - this collection of movies portrays a group of American Paratroopers during WWII. It explores the trials and tribulations of combat from training to the end of the war.

Cook with Him...

Men love to barbeque, whether it's with smoke, beer, rubs – you name it. Be adventurous with him, and try some great ways to enjoy food on the barbi. He will probably take it as a huge compliment if you ask him to show you some tips he's picked up over the years - even if you already know them yourself.p

For the Art Enthusiast suggest the two of you tour an art show together. There are plenty of juried shows, auctions and galleries to start the discovery process of learning more about art. The art doesn’t have to be limited to paintings. Check out the many avenues such as sculpture, metal and wood work. Ask each other as you explore “what element makes that piece say, "I like that one". All art is made of elements that bring beauty to the beholder. Which element do you prefer; the colors, the lines, the texture?

Discover Tea with Him...

In many countries tea is a time to talk, reflect and relax. This beautiful black box keepsake holds a variety of herbal teas, to soothe, relax and calm. If you ask nicely, he may be willing to share.
